Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai recently announced the AAP government’s plan to develop India’s first e-waste eco-park in Holambi Kalan in Delhi. Rai said that this project of making the first e-waste eco-park in India will be developed on about 21 acres of area in Holambi Kalan in Delhi. Rai also said that an 11-member steering committee has become developed and Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has been made its implementing agency.
Rai said that “In order to rapidly complete the development of the eco-park, the concerned agency has been asked to appoint a consultant as soon as possible. The park will be ready in about 23 months”. Every year Delhi produces a huge amount of e-waste over two lakh tonnes or about 9.5 percent of the total amount produced in India and the recycled generated e-waste amount is only five percent of the total waste.
The Environment Minister said that “By ‘e-waste eco park’ we refer to the establishment of a place where this e-waste is dismantled, refurbished, recycled, and manufactured in a manner that is scientifically and environmentally sound”. He also said that “The development of this e-waste eco-park will drastically reduce the pollution caused by e-waste”.
“Delhi is the fifth largest producer of e-waste in India after Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal so, keeping it in view this decision has been taking place”, said the Minister.
Minister Rai said that “We’ll bring Film policy 2022 for better branding of Delhi and associate our residents through films. ₹50 crore film fund will be introduced to support film producers. This will be India’s most progressive Film Policy, aiming to create jobs and boost the economy.” The government will also introduce the Delhi Film Policy 2022 for tourism purposes.
